I know this blog is supposed to be about martial arts, but I just couldn't resist putting in this clip, which I think is appropriate under the circumstances, and a personal favourite from my horse training days in America.
Here's the story. On Sunday we all turned up to train at G&A gym in Lea Hall as usual for Primal. Door's locked. No note. We waited, and waited, and waited. We tried to call Ang, but got no answer. After a couple of days of trying to reach Ang, I finally got hold of him and he then told me 'We're not opening on Sundays anymore.' Thanks a lot for letting us know, Ang!
So, the past couple of days has been a scramble to find a place, especially because I knew we had a couple of guys who had already bought their tickets from Ireland for the end of the month course. I tried Jon Roberts' club in Birmingham, but they weren't taking any non-members. So it looked like we were going to be training in Rob Dick's garage. Then I remembered Mark Woodard, who had offered me the use of his gym in Gloucester for a seminar some time ago--I couldn't get numbers for it, so I couldn't take him up on it at the time.
Mark is an MMA trainer and UFC ref, and he has a stable of fighters based in Gloucester. When I phoned him up out of the blue and asked him if he could help us out, he immediately stepped forward and was glad to help. 'Call it a late Christmas present,' he said.
Thanks, Mark!
So the end of the month open training will be held at Mark's place on the 25th as a one-off, and in the meanwhile I'll be working on a plan for what to do about Primal. I never know who is going to turn up on the open courses, so if you can help me by spreading the word on blogs, forums, etc, that will hopefully prevent anybody showing up at Ang's assuming we'd be there.
If you live in the South or West, Gloucester is in a handy location and the gym is right off the A5. For those who might have been coming down from up North, here is an open course on Saturday the 24th a Loughborough.
The gym is a fully equipped fight training club complete with mats, plenty of bags, and a cage. It's ideal for what we do. Here are two photos:

Here are the details. Same time, 1-4 pm, same cost £35 for one person, £60 for two, groups e-mail me for a rate. Bring all the usual gear: skipping rope, gum shields, etc. I've got a real good session planned--hope to see you there.
