Here's a link on mirror neurons.  It's a short video and the research into mirror neurons definitely sheds some light on the process of being able to read your opponent.  I'll be posting more links as soon as I can; it's been a very busy week here.  I'll also talk more about my own experience of this subject.  I've been talking about this since the late 1980s, but at the time I didn't know anything about mirror neurons.
